“Mary Bevevino and Dawn Snodgrass got it right! The ABC’s of College Success provides information, inspiration, and is VERY, VERY fun to read! Perhaps what is most refreshing about this book is that the ideas presented are so contemporary, unique, and pleasantly unexpected, such as an explanation of the significance of a “zipper!” This book is a definite must read for any student preparing to enter higher education, because of the manner in which the book addresses common issues such as college parties, study skills, and roommate issues. However, the authors also discuss often overlooked details, such as the need for an umbrella, and how carrying an umbrella somewhat reflects a rite of passage from a high school “don’t” to a college “do.” Although there are many books that target this population, The ABC’s of College Success presents itself in a way that is so warm and conversational where many others fall short. The alphabetical excerpts are brief enough that a young adult can read them with an enjoyable ease. As I read, I was reminded of past conversations with wise grandparents, where the information provided was meant to encourage, motivate, and inspire me about the road that lies ahead, rather than focus on warning me about the various “dangers” of college. I wish this book had been available to me when I began my collegiate journey! I certainly look forward to sharing this book with my friends and family!”
